New to NUS? Here’s your quick guide to IDs, cards and VPN.

Matriculation Number & NUS-ID

Matriculation Number E.g. A01234567X

Used for identification, remember this number for exams!

NUS-ID E.g. E0123456.

Used to log into NUS platforms (email, Canvas, MyEduRec, NUSync, Wi-Fi).

NUS EZLINK CARD (Optional)

Student concession EZ-Link card.
Used for public transport.
Optional — only apply if you need concession fares.

Matrculation Card

- Your physical student card.
- Needed for campus access & identity checks.
- Available digitally in the NUS Mobile App.

You would receive this card as part of “Registration part 2”.

Do keep the physical card on you at all times!

nVPN

Used for:

- Connecting to library resources that require campus network

- Accessing certain research networks or restricted servers

- Some school applications that only work inside NUS network

*For everyday tasks (Canvas, MyEduRec, email, NUSync), VPN is not required.

You will come across this screen when trying to log in to most NUS platforms.

To log in, be sure to include the NUSSTU\ domain before entering your NUSNET ID. Simply replace <E0123456> & <PASSWORD> with your own NUS-ID and password, respectively.

User: NUSSTU\<E0123456>
Pass: <PASSWORD>

*The “NUSSTU\” is not Case-Sensitive

Your NUS-ID is also what you will use to log in to the NUS Campus Wi-Fi.
